NEWS PAGEThe last news from the world of dacre.net before the big one. |

Well we are almost at the end of the millennium (if you ignore all the quibbling about when it actually does start) This is the big one as far as having to learn all these new ideas such as shifting to 4 digit dates after a life time of only two. And what do you call this next decade all the ones I've heard sound stupid or stilted and the first decade of the new millennium is too long and FDNM is crap!
Well I hope to start with some changes. I've resigned from my job as I'd been there to long so the future is a bit of a blank canvas at present who knows how it will turn out. I should start harping on about my favourite things of the last 10, 100, 1000, or 2000 years but hey you don't really want to know. But being a pessimist I will vote global capitalism as the worst thing to come out of it. Jesus may have cast the money lenders out of the temple all that time ago but it didn't get rid of them.
November didn't get much of a look-in so you will have to accept my apologise for that.
It is starting to get cold and bleak now the leaves are rapidly disappearing from the trees and the winds are ravaging the land.
The photo gallery search page has at last been completed so you can now search for specific photos without having to wade through them all. I still have loads of photos to put online but as ever time is limited.
Things have been busy and I haven't had as much time to do things with the site as I would have liked. I have had a look at the site analysis which has been interesting and I'm proud to say that dacre.net has had over 20,000 hits since it has been on-line and numbers are steadily increasing and are now on average 10 hits an hour, which is about the same as the total hits for the first month. Hopefully this will continue in the months ahead.
I am still planning to do another overhaul of the site as I can always see areas that need improvement. Keep those ideas and feedback coming.
I'm feeling positive about it!
The sun is still shining, so far so good.
Well the Autumn is upon us and the nights are starting to draw in at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere. My car is now on the road and I have been on a few little adventures in it, though I still have to put a photo of it up on the site but hey some things take time.
Being a little lazy.
I was hoping to get to Portugal this month but this has all come to nothing. I shall have to make some other plans for an escape. I've been getting into doing a bit of this JavaScipt stuff. It is quite fun and easy to use. Who knows where it will end.
Got my 'new' classic car this month. I'll put up a photo soon so you can live the dream. OK it does have a little rust and stuff but it's got style.
I saw the eclipse thing the other week which was a nice break from the office but not quite as awe inspiring as the TV hype had us believe. It was good to see it though. I've been getting out and about a little so I haven't spent as much time on the old computer as I could have (no bad thing). This may explain a little my lack of e-mailing anyone of late.
There are a few more photos on the site mainly from my Gran's party where I was the balloon modeler, though I have none of that on show (Sorry).
Well that will do till next month. It is important not too rush yourself at times. Till soon take care.
Well I didn't do much on here in June I will admit but this will all change as July progresses.
I've put a couple more photo's up in the gallery so you can see how Skip looks with no hair! I hope to get some more soon as I am off to Holland to retrieve my camera which has been out there for six months after I lost it on a train. It was handed in - good Karma!
Been to Bracknell festival which was good. I did my MC bit on the main stage again, so I had a chance to be heckled by the crowd. I have also at last got the photo of me from last year so I now have proof although If you're cynical you'll just say that it's been faked. I promise it hasn't.
Holland was very good I went see my friend Minouche in Deventer, which is a nice little Dutch town with lots of outdoor cafés which is always good. The annual stilts festival was going on which was most entertaining and a little sureal. I have managed to get my camera and not loose it again so there are a few more photos making there way on site.
June has sped by as life seems to do at times and it is hard to remember whether or not much has been achieved. Sometimes it takes a little time to find out.
Not really done that much to it for a while as I have been busy with other things.
Seem to be drifting on OK at present.
Well it's now May and I have almost finally finished writing my epic 'Galleon' Database (don't ask me why it's called Galleon), which I had spent a long time putting off and doing other things instead. Like setting up this web site.
If your browser is shockwave enabled you'll have hopefully seen my first animation on the dacre.net home page. I hope to get another more informative one done in the near future I'll let you know here when it's done. I've also put some bits and pieces on the strange stuff page.
I have now divided my photo gallery into two separate ones so that most of the pictures are now findable without it becoming too unwieldy and also to separate out the photos of people which are great if you know who they are, but otherwise are just lots of photos of people not really doing a huge amount. I have creatively entitled these the Main Photo Gallery and the People Gallery.
I have now got round to adding a third India Gallery so that you can see my photos of India without having to go through my adventure (not that you would want to do that).
I am starting to do a few more things with myself and have been travelling around a fair bit. I have decided that I need to go on a nice holiday soon somewhere I can lie on the beach drink cocktails and watch the sun set.
Much to my surprise I have had a couple of e-mails from other Dacre's out in cyberspace. If there are any more of you out there let me know and we can get together and start some taking over the world type conspiracy. So far Canada and the US have been infiltrated.
Here it is the new news page to go with the new site. As things have changed quite a lot of late I have decided that the news page should also get a revamp. For those of you who have been here before, I have made quite a few changes to the site since it was first started.
If it's your first visit welcome and what took you so long?
Things have got off to a good start and I have got the hang of
this web site stuff.
The photo gallery is up and running with some
of my photos.
Some of my poems are on line and I hope you read a
few.
There's my account of my chaotic Indian adventure
which is worth the read but there's quite a lot to it.
I've got my guestbook up and running which
is my first venture into the world of CGI.
And a few links to the rest of the web.
I am intending to increase the size of my photo gallery but it is starting to get too large and some of the pictures are not readily accessible if you don't know their address e.g.. Pauly.
Not sure what the next project will be wait and see.
It's the spring which is always a good thing sunshine and bright evenings.
The rest of the world however doesn't seem to be doing too well what with the war in Kosovo, bombs in London, genetic modification, global warming, globalization etc. Still it is important to stay positive at times like this and marvel at all the plants returning to life despite what gets thrown at them.
Anyhow enough of that for now.
Thanks to everyone who has come to visit especially those who have left a message or e-mailed me.
And come back soon
